King of the West/NARC 410 Sprints Visit Ocean Speedway this Friday

Watsonville, CA – The powerful 410 sprint cars with the King of the West/NARC Sprint Car Series are coming to town this Friday for their first of three visits this season.  Fremont’s Shane Golobic picked up their season opener down at the Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield a couple weeks ago aboard the Tarlton Racing entry and will look to go two in a row at a track he has plenty of laps and a couple championships at.  Bud Kaeding, fresh off an Ocean Sprints victory last Friday, will also be one of the many stars expected to be in contention for the win.  DJ Netto, Dominic and Gio Scelzi, Kyle Hirst, Sean Watts, Jarrett Soares, and a whole bunch of others are also expected to be in attendance.

The IMCA SportMods will have their second race of 2018 this Friday.  A massive field of 24 cars showed up last week, with Brentwood’s Fred Ryland picking up the win.  Anthony Giuliani of Morgan Hill, Prunedale’s Matthew Hagio, Brentwood’s Trevor Clymens and SportMod rookie Austin Williams of Gilroy completed the top 5.

The American Stocks are back again for their third race of the year.  Last week saw a great race including four-wide racing and a last lap pass for the win.  DJ Keldsen came out on top of Tony Oliveira by 46 thousandths of a second.  Kyle Reeder, Jerry Skelton, and Terry Traub rounded out the top 5.  This is the first week drop dates will come into play in the point standings, as this is the third race of the year.

The South Bay Dwarf Cars will visit Ocean Speedway for their first time this season.  Last year, Salinas’ Camron Diatte dominated the division on his way to another championship and will look to duplicate that performance in 2018.  Gene Pires Jr., Terre Rothweiler, Mark Biscardi, Ryan Ameln, and Shawn Jones are all expected to threaten for wins this season as well.

A couple schedules had the IMCA Modifieds on the schedule for this date, but they will NOT be racing on April 20th.  The division’s next race is April 27th.

Pits are scheduled to open at 2pm and Grandstands will open at 4:30pm.  Pit passes are $40 for IMCA and track members and $45 for non-members.  All seating is general admission and tickets cost $25 for adults and seniors.  Juniors 12-15 are $12 and Kids 6-11 are $6 and Kids 5 and under are free.
