Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo return to action for Round #7, July 7thracepmg
Watsonville, CA – After a break in the schedule for the Pombo/Sargent Classic and the 4th of July holiday, the Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo are set to rev back up this Friday. Back on June 16th, Watsonville’s Justin Sanders came out on top after an absolute thriller in the feature battling with Sebastopol’s Geoff Ensign, Fresno’s Mathew Moles, and Riverdale’s Landon Hurst. Sanders’ point lead stands at 32 over Ensign. Stockton’s Brad Furr and Gilroy’s Kurt Nelson are still locked together in an intense battle for third in the standings, 72 and 74 points behind Sanders, respectively. Jason and Jeremy Chisum, are tied for 5th in the standings, 130 points behind.
Six races in, the IMCA Modified division is the sight of the tightest point’s battle currently at the speedway. Alex Wilson of Salinas leads Cody Burke, also of Salinas, and Martinez’s Nick DeCarlo, who are tied for second, by a mere 4 points. Hollister’s Mark Hartman sits atop the IMCA SportMod standings after Prunedale’s Matthew Hagio was forced to miss the last race preparing to get married. Robert Gallaher heads the pack in the American Stocks. Of note, in the seven American Stock races thus far in 2017, seven different drivers have parked it in victory lane, including Matt Kile, Bobby Huckaby Sr., Gallaher, Tony Oliveira, Jerry Skelton, Nick Silva and most recently, Terry Campion. Dakota Keldsen leads the standings in the 4-Bangers.
Pits open at 2pm and Grandstands open at 4:30pm. Pit passes are $45 for non-members and $40 for track and IMCA members. All seating is general admission and tickets cost $17 for adults and $16 for seniors. New for 2017, Juniors 12-15 are $12 and Kids 6-11 are $6. As always, Kids 5 and under are free.
#83 Terry Campion narrowly beat Robert Gallaher to become the seventh different winner of 2017 in the division. Will there be an eighth or is someone finally going to repeat?
