Ocean Sprints Round 12 Set for Friday as Season Starts to Wind Down

Watsonville, CA – The Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo season is getting closer to conclusion, as only four races remain in 2018.  Last week, Stockton’s Brad Furr dominated the non-stop main event to collect his third win of the year.   Hanford’s Mitchell Faccinto made a rare appearance and finished second, with Aromas’ Justin Sanders coming in third.  Hollister’s Ryan Bernal and Fresno’s Koen Shaw completed the top five.  With the win, Brad Furr now leads Koen Shaw by 12 points heading in to Round 12.  Justin Sanders is in third, 85 points behind Furr.

The IMCA SportMods return after a week off.  At the Cecil Memorial back on August 4th, Brentwood’s Fred Ryland took the win over Bakersfield’s Matthew Mayo and Gilroy’s Austin Williams.  Oakley’s Aaron Crowell and Morgan Hill’s Jim DiGiovanni completed the top five.  Jim DiGiovanni leads Austin Williams in the point standing by 37 markers with six races remaining in the season.

The American Stocks are on the card once again.  Last week, San Jose’s Robert Gallaher took his fourth win of the season over San Martin’s JC Elrod.  San Jose’s Matt Kile, DJ Keldsen of Newman, and Joe Gallaher rounded out the top five.  The points fight got a bit more interesting as Robert Gallaher closed the gap to just four points behind Matt Kile.  JC Elrod lurks back in third, 37 points behind Kile.

The Dwarf Cars are back once again this Friday.  Last week, Gene “Punky” Pires Jr. of Los Banos won for the third time this season.  Pires had to hold off a hard-charging Kyle Jones of Campbell, who was on the hunt for his first career win.  San Jose’s Mark Biscardi, Hollister’s Ryan Ameln, and Campbell’s Eric Weisler completed the top five.
