20th Mike Cecil Memorial set to become best everracepmg
Watsonville, CA – In September of 1997, we lost one of the best to ever grace the Watsonville Speedway to cancer. 20 years later, Mike’s son Tim, is carrying on his legacy and the 20th Annual race to be held August 5th at Ocean Speedway is already shaping up to be the best ever. Tim Cecil announced yesterday that a powder coated Shaw by Ryland Racing chassis with complete interior and all the proper mounts will be one of the raffle items up for grabs. Tickets for the chassis are for sale for $100 and there will be a limit of 100 tickets sold. Money from the raffle will go back to the drivers in the form of added purse money and additional raffle items. Tickets are available by contacting Tim Cecil or Fred Ryland at Ryland Racing at (925) 978-0388.
The All Star Modifed Tour will be on hand with a $1000-to-win race. Purse for the IMCA SportMods and the American Stocks are to be determined. For the American Stocks, 1 Hour Drain has already committed $1000 to the purse, $100 for the fastest lap in the race, $100 for the winner of the dash, $100 for the halfway leader, and $200 if the leader at halfway goes to the tail and comes back to win. The American Stock main event will be 80 laps.
Thank you to Large’s Metal Fabrication in Watsonville, 1 Hour Drain in San Jose, D & L Pump Service in Merced, and Ryland Racing in Brentwood for their support of this great event! If you want to add your company’s name to the list, please contact Tim Cecil.
