Cory Eliason Claims Second Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo Win in Convincing Fashion

(PETERSEN MEDIA- Watsonville, CA)- Winning the season opening event at Ocean Speedway aboard the Antaya Motorsports No. 20 machine, Cory Eliason returned to the Santa Cruz County Fairground on Friday night aboard his own No. 00 machine and picked up his second Ocean Sprints Pres. by Taco Bravo win of the season.

Sharing the front row with DJ Netto for the 30-lap feature event on the hooked up ¼ mile speedway, it would be Netto getting out to the early lead as Eliason, Justin Sanders, Tommy Tarlton, and Matthew Moles rode in his wake for the first five laps of the event until the caution flag flew.

Getting back underway, Netto would lead the field back to action but Eliason was there to take command of the race on the sixth lap following a massive wheel stand by the early leader. Out front, Eliason would look extremely tough as he clicked off some lighting fast laps on the hooked up surface and quickly began racing through lapped traffic.

On the 12th lap, the action would come to a halt as Kyle Offill got upside down in turn two. Climbing from the wreckage okay, Offill’s night would come to an early end.

Back underway, Eliason continued to lead the way as Netto still chased after him in the second spot. The race for third through fifth would get exciting as Justin Sanders, Matthew Moles, and Tommy Tarlton would jockey for position until Moles came to a stop on the 20th lap.

Not letting the yellow flags deter him, Eliason would again get out to a comfortable lead when the green light’s flashed as Tarlton and Netto began battling for the second spot behind him.

With Tarlton able to get the spot, Netto would then feel pressure from Kurt Nelson who came alive in the race’s closing laps. As Eliason and Tarlton separated from the rest of the leader, Netto and Nelson would swap the position with Netto getting the best of the battle.

Up front, the Kingsburg, CA driver would not be denied as he raced to his second win of the season at the speedway, as Tommy Tarlton held on for second, Netto third, Nelson fourth, and Justin Sanders rounded out the Top-Five.

“It was another great night for us at Ocean Speedway,” Cory Eliason said. “We don’t get to run the 00 very often, but when we have it’s been pretty fast so far. Thanks to Brian, Skip, and everyone that helps us out at the track.”

Brad Furr would come home sixth followed by Geoff Ensign, Michael Kofoid, Jerry Bonnema, and Matthew Moles rounding out the Top-10.

Friday night at Ocean Speedway, 22 cars checked into the pit area, and it was Eliason setting the bar during time trials with a lap of 11.946 seconds.

During the three-heat race program, wins would go to Tommy Tarlton, Kurt Nelson, and Brad Furr.
