Watsonville, CA – Three rounds of the 2017 Ocean Sprints season are in the books and three different drivers have driven to victory lane. Last week, Watsonville’s Justin Sanders broke through for his first win of 2017. Shane Golobic of Fremont finished second, with Sebastopol’s Geoff Ensign coming in third. After three races, Justin Sanders leads the points fight by 8 over Geoff Ensign. Stockton’s Brad Furr, who rallied to a sixth-place finish last week after battling an illness all day, sits in third, 39 points back. Hollister’s Ryan Bernal is expected to make an appearance tomorrow with Josh Ford Motorsports. This will be the first Ocean Sprints race of 2017 for the former 2-time Spec Sprint track champion at his home track. Round #2 winner, Easton’s Tommy Tarlton, is also expected to return aboard the Tarlton Racing #21.
The IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, and American Stocks join the night’s program. Pits open at 2pm and Grandstands open at 4:30pm. Pit passes are $45 for non-members and $40 for track and IMCA members. 2017 memberships are still available at the pit gate. All seating is general admission and tickets cost $17 for adults and $16 for seniors. New for 2017, Juniors 12-15 are $12 and Kids 6-11 are $6. As always, Kids 5 and under are free.
Last year’s American Stock champion, Robert Gallaher of San Jose, got his first win of the season last Friday and looks to duplicate it this week.
