Ocean Sprints Round #3 Headline Five Division Show April 26thracepmg
Watsonville, CA – The Ocean Sprints are back for the third week in a row this Friday night. Last week, Campbell’s Bud Kaeding won aboard the legendary BK Racing #69, made famous by his father, Brent, and crew chief Billy Albini who passed away in March. Justin Sanders of Aromas threw a slider in the waning moments, but wasn’t able to make it stick and settled for second. The Macedo brothers, Cole and Carson, and Stockton’s Brad Furr completed the top five. Two races in to the season, Jeremy and Jason Chisum of Salinas sit atop the Ocean Sprint point standings. It should be noted that drivers will have their two lowest races thrown out in 2019.
The IMCA Modifieds will have their second race of the year. Bobby Hogge IV grabbed the win at Opening Night after a great race with Cody Burke and Robert Marsh, all of Salinas. Livermore’s Brian Cass and Austin Burke were the rest of the top five.
The Hobby Stocks return after a week off. JC Elrod of San Martin won Opening Night with San Jose’s Robert Gallaher challenging in second. Watsonville’s DJ Keldsen, Prunedale’s Quintin Harris, and Terry Traub of Watsonville rounded out the top five. As was the case last year, the division will have two drop dates in 2019.
The Dwarf Cars kicked off their year last week and had a great battle for the win between San Jose’s Mark Biscardi and Santa Cruz’s Terre Rothweiler. The pair traded the lead several times with Biscardi taking the win. Gene Pires Jr. of Los Banos, Campbell’s Eric Weisler, and Atwater’s Lonnie Tekaat completed the top five.
The Four Bangers are on the card for their second race of the year as well. Watsonville’s Dakota Keldsen won on Opening Night, followed by a trio of Beardsleys: Nicole, Kate, and Bill. Watsonville’s DJ Harrington finished fifth in his debut. Prunedale’s John Grilli originally finished second but did not report to tech.
