Salute to Mother’s Day On Tap This Friday at Ocean Speedway

Watsonville, CA – For the fifth week in a row, the Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo will be in action this Friday night.  Last week, Gilroy’s Kurt Nelson finally broke through for his first career win at the track.  JJ Ringo of Morgan Hill wheeled his Keller Motorsports car to a stellar runner-up finish and Salinas’ Jeremy Chisum came home third after leading much of the main event last week.  Discovery Bay’s Jayson Bright and Gilroy’s Jarrett Soares rounded out the top five.  With four races in the books, Jeremy Chisum leads in the unadjusted point standings.  Chisum is the only driver that has finished in the top ten in every race thus far in 2019.  Each driver will throw away their two lowest scoring nights in 2019.

The Hobby Stocks return to the track after a week off.  San Jose’s Rob Gallaher picked up his first win of the year last time out, beating Watsonville’s DJ Keldsen and Santa Cruz’s Robert Huckaby Sr..  Joe Gallaher and Tony Oliveira of Watsonville completed the top five.  As is the case in the Sprint Cars, drivers in the Hobby Stocks will drop their two lowest scoring nights.

The 4-Bangers are amidst an intense part of their season racing for the third week in a row this Friday.  Scotts Valley’s Ryan McClelland won for the first time after a dominating performance in the main event last week.  Kate Beardsley of Felton, Watsonville’s Dakota Keldsen, Nicole Beardsley, and Prunedale’s John Grilli completed the top five.  Ryan McClelland leads in the point standings.

The Western Midgets are back in town after a race down in Ventura last week.  When they were here last on April 19th, Fresno’s David Prickett grabbed the win ahead of Clovis’ Dillon Tucker.  Atascadero’s Randi Pankratz, Jackson Dukes of Clovis, and Hollister’s Adam Lemke completed the top five.  Santa Barbara’s Charlie Butcher won with the series last Saturday in Ventura.
