Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo set for penultimate race of the season this Friday night at Ocean Speedway

Watsonville, CA – August 22, 2016…After coming off a thrilling Johnny Key Classic last week the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo are set for the penultimate event of the 2016 season this Friday August 26.
Fresh off his big win at the Key Classic last week Watsonville’s own Justin Sanders will look to keep the momentum going this Friday night. The reigning Ocean Sprints champ has captured the last two Taco Bravo events and guns for his fourth overall win of the season this week. Sanders took home $5500 for his first efforts last Saturday at the 56th running of the Key.
Going into the next to last round Stockton’s Brad Furr is within an arm’s reach of his second career Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo title. The former World of Outlaws regular has one victory on the season and will be searching for number two on Friday.
Penngrove’s Buddy Kofoid goes into Friday sitting second in the standings and will be searching to make up some ground with the season winding down. The 14-year-old has one victory to his credit this season. Gilroy’s Kurt Nelson, Salinas’ Jason Chisum and Fremont’s Dustin Golobic round out the top-five in points going into Friday.
After a runner up at the Johnny Key Classic Fremont’s Shane Golobic will be gunning or his third win of the Ocean Sprints season on Friday. The two-time Taco Bravo champ was part of the epic battle at the front of the field last week. Fellow two-time champ Tommy Tarlton will also be gunning for his third win of the season Friday following a fourth place finish last week.
More drivers expected Friday will include Cottonwood’s Lucas Ashe, Fresno’s Koen & Kyler Shaw, Corralitos’ Jerry Bonnema, San Jose’s Darrell Taylor and others.
The front gate at Ocean Speedway will open at 4:30pm this Friday night with hot laps at 5:30pm, qualifying around 6pm and racing to follow. The pit gate will open at 2pm. Friday’s event also features the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sports Mods, Dwarf Cars and 4-Bangers.
All seating will be general admission with adult tickets $17, seniors 65 & older $16, children 6-12 $13 and kids five and under free. A family pack featuring two adults and two kids is available for $55. The Ocean Speedway is located on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville, California with the physical address being 2601 East Lake Ave, Watsonville, CA 95076.
