Ocean Sprints Round #5 Scheduled for Friday, May 11th

Watsonville, CA – The Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo are four races in to their 2018 season, with their fifth race set for this Friday, May 11th.  Last week, Stockton’s Brad Furr collected his first win of the year after dominating the feature.  Cotati’s Jake Haulot and Fresno’s Koen Shaw rounded out the podium, with Kurt Nelson of Gilroy and Jeremy Chisum of Salinas completing the top five.  With less races in the state, car count is expected to be back to normal, with local hero Justin Sanders expected to be back in action looking for his third win of the 2018 season.  Gilroy’s Chris Nelson, Salinas’ Jason Chisum, Mathew Moles of Fresno, and many others from around the state are also expected.  Koen Shaw sits atop the point standings, with Brad Furr in second, 9 points back.

The IMCA SportMods are three races deep into their season, with three different drivers grabbing victories.  Last week Tulare’s Jack Aguiar picked up his first career Feature win over Morgan Hill’s Anthony Giuliani, Gilroy’s Austin Williams, Jim DiGiovanni of Morgan Hill, and Watsonville’s Adriane Frost.  Anthony Giuliani leads the point standings over rookie Austin Williams by 9 points.

The American Stocks return to action after a week off.  Back on April 27th, San Jose’s Robert Gallaher took the win after an entertaining battle with JC Elrod of San Martin.  Gallaher’s victory made it four different winners in four races.  Santa Cruz’s Terry Campion and San Jose’s Matt Kile charged through the field to collect top five finishes, with Watsonville’s Terry Traub coming home fifth.  Matt Kile leads the point standings by 17 markers over DJ Keldsen, not factoring in the two drop dates.

The Four Bangers will have their fourth race of the year this Friday.  Last week, Hollister’s Logan Doglione dominated the Feature, with Jay Gardner of Santa Cruz, Kate Beardsley of Felton, Watsonville’s Dakota Keldsen, and Nicole Beardsley, also of Felton, the top five.  Dakota Keldsen leads San Ramon’s Kelly Campanile by 14 points in the championship standings.

Pits are scheduled to open at 2pm and Grandstands will open at 4:30pm.  Pit passes are $40 for IMCA and track members and $45 for non-members.  All seating is general admission and tickets cost $17 for adults and $16 for seniors.  Juniors 12-15 are $12 and Kids 6-11 are $6 and Kids 5 and under are free.
